About the Job

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified PhD candidate to conduct research on the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and higher education. The successful candidate will be part of the University Pedagogy (UNIPED) section and contribute to the development of AI-based educational practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent research on AI in higher education, focusing on the relationship between AI and pedagogy.
  • Teach and contribute to the development of educational programs at the UNIPED section.
  • Complete a training component that includes theoretical, methodological, and thematic education at the doctoral level.
  • Present research at national and international scientific conferences.
  • Write and defend a PhD dissertation.
  • Participate in the research group, academic unit, and research environment at the department.
Requirements
  • A master's degree in pedagogy, university pedagogy, counseling and adult learning, philosophy, sociology, social anthropology, or psychology.
  • A strong academic background with an average grade of B or better.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, or English.
  • Meet the requirements for admission to the PhD program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience from teaching in higher education.

The successful candidate should be able to work independently, in a structured manner, and set goals and make plans to achieve them. They should also be able to present and discuss their research with other professionals and engage constructively with feedback from and to colleagues.

Salary and Conditions

As a PhD candidate, you will be remunerated with a gross salary of NOK 532,200 per year before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. The employment period is 4 years, with 25% mandatory work. Appointment to a position as PhD candidate requires that you are admitted to the PhD program within three months of employment and that you participate in an organized PhD program during the employment period.
