PhD Candidate in Computational Neuroscience

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD candidate to join our research group at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The successful candidate will work on developing computational models to determine the mechanisms by which ultraslow oscillations in the Medial Entorhinal Cortex (MEC) are generated and organized into periodic sequences.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement computational models to study ultraslow oscillations in the MEC
- Analyze large-scale neural population recordings to inform the models
- Present research results at national and international conferences
- Complete coursework mandated by the PhD program in Neuroscience at NTNU
- Master's degree in Neuroscience, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related subjects
- Strong mathematical background and coding experience
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with modeling or analysis of large neuronal populations
- Familiarity with neuroscience and prior work in computational neuroscience
- Prior productivity in research and publications
- Strong personal initiative, self-motivation, and work ethic
- Solution-oriented attitude and ability to solve problems independently
- Ability to work collaboratively to accomplish common research goals

As a PhD candidate, you will be paid from gross NOK 532,200 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. The period of employment is 3 years.
