Job DescriptionThe PhD candidate will be responsible for defining and developing an MPC setup that is suited for typical waterborne heating systems in non-residential buildings. This will involve designing and implementing a controller that can adapt to changing building loads and optimize energy use. The candidate will also be responsible for testing the MPC setup in a real building located in Trondheim and monitoring its performance.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement an MPC setup for waterborne heating systems in non-residential buildings
- Test and evaluate the performance of the MPC setup in a real building
- Document the results of the research and summarize the lessons learned
- Master's degree in control engineering, building engineering, or a related field
- Strong background in programming languages such as Python, Julia, or Matlab
- Experience with building automation and control systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Previous experience with MPC and data-driven modeling
- Knowledge of building energy management systems
- Experience with scientific writing and publishing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and creativity
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
