
Seismic Fleet Commander

The role of the Master on a seismic vessel is multifaceted and demanding. As the highest authority on board, the Master is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of the ship and its crew.
The Master must have a deep understanding of maritime laws and regulations, as well as the company's instructions and IMS (Integrated Management System). This includes knowledge of the ISPS Code and its purpose, which requires sufficient training and documentation for all crew members.
In cooperation with the SSO, the Master manages security on board and ensures that all crew members have the necessary knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
The Master is also responsible for preparing reports of accidents and near-accidents in accordance with the HSEQ Reporting Procedure.
Training and DevelopmentThe Master shall ensure that new personnel are properly familiarized with the vessel and its operations, in accordance with STCW-95.
Emergency drills and SOLAS training must be carried out at regular intervals, and the Master must verify that safety and fire training manuals are available to all crew members.
The Master shall also ensure that training is provided to support officers in their roles and that they have the necessary qualifications and certifications.
Crew ManagementThe Master shall ensure that all crew members onboard are certified according to their position and carry the required documentation.
Additionally, the Master must ensure that all crew members carry employment contracts with them.
In collaboration with the crewing provider and Superintendent, the Master is responsible for safely manning the vessel in accordance with the crew model.
Contractual RequirementsThe Master shall inform crew members of special requirements in the contract and verify that these requirements are met.
The Master must ensure that Clients' contractual requirements are fulfilled in such a way that Clients gain confidence in PGS.
