Job Description:
About the Job: Seismic Fleet Chief EngineerThis position demands a detail-oriented leader who can supervise the engine department efficiently, optimizing team performance.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement efficient watch routines for the engine crew.
- Maintain detailed overtime records for the engine department and submit them to the Master.
- Collaborate in creating comprehensive handover reports for next shifts.
- Support the Masters' Review and weekly/monthly/quarterly reports.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of engines, compressors, propulsion, and power supplies.
- Select optimal operational modes for machinery components, considering fuel efficiency and component lifespan.
- Verify compliance with regulations and Company guidelines for logbooks, oil records, and other documents.
- Participate in watch duties when required.
Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Lead maintenance activities in the engine department.
- E nsure seamless integration and updates of the ship's computerized planned maintenance system (CMS).
- Classify engine department components according to CMS regulations.
- Closely collaborate with the Chief Officer to plan and execute mechanical maintenance on deck components.
Spare Parts Management:
- Be accountable for acquiring necessary spare parts in a timely manner for scheduled maintenance.
- Regularly review spare part stock levels and propose improvements.
- Verify proper usage and continuous updates of the ship's computerized spare part system (PMS).
Bunkering and Fuelling:
- Implement strict safety protocols during bunkering and oil product transfers.
- Prepare bunkering lube oil requests.
Budget Planning and Cost Control:
- Develop an annual budget proposal for the engine department.
- Effectively monitor costs and alert the Superintendent if the budget appears at risk or excessively high.
Filing and Documentation:
- Be responsible for maintaining accurate files related to the engine department, adhering to Company standards.
