People Manager in Maritime, Ship Classification

We're seeking a proactive and digitally savvy HR professional to join our Maritime organisation as a People Manager who brings both experience and curiosity to the team. You should be comfortable navigating complex HR landscapes and have a strong sense of ownership.
Key Responsibilities
As People Manager in Ship Classification, you will be a trusted partner to leaders and employees, driving operational excellence and contributing to strategic HR development. Your responsibilities will include:
Core HR processes
- Lead and coordinate the performance management, promotion, and salary adjustment processes
- Support and guide individual employee cases with professionalism and discretion
- Proven expertise in project and change management to ensure successful implementation of processes
- Manage recruitment activities, including onboarding and lead of the summer students and trainee programs
Be involved in mentoring programs and contribute to training & learning initiatives
Strategic & advisory role
- Act as the main HR contact for dedicated units within Ship Classification, providing coaching and support to leaders
- Participate actively in management meetings and HR forums
- Lead and coordinate reorganisation processes
- Follow up on overtime and ensure compliance with internal policies and practices
Administer 'Norges Vels Medalje' and contribute to employee recognition efforts
Collaboration & Communication
- Maintain clear and timely communication, including handling HR-related administration and correspondence
- Be a critical thinker who challenges assumptions and asks, "What is the added value?"
Listen actively and build trust across teams and levels
Data & process excellence
- Be curious about HR reporting, gain insights, and discover trends
- Apply strong Excel skills to analyse data, trends, and support performance
- Demonstrate data curiosity by continuously seeking ways to improve how we use people data to create value
- Organize and structure HR information to support transparency and efficiency across units

Qualifications & Competencies
- Solid understanding of HR processes and ability to connect the dots across functions
- Strong Excel skills and confidence in working with data and reporting
- Proven experience in HR roles, ideally in a matrix or global organization
- Digital competence and eagerness to explore new tools and ways of working
- Fluent in Norwegian and proficient in English
- Experience or interest in training & learning initiatives
- Strong coaching skills and ability to support leaders and employees
- A critical thinker
- Excellent listening skills and ability to build trust across levels
