Your new role

As our new Director, you will be responsible for leading and managing Ramboll's group wide Rail sector globally, an international organisation with a diverse management team. The sector is a vehicle for our strategy "Partner for Sustainable Change" and will promote Design Excellence, Digitalisation and Sustainable Design.

You will set out and deliver the strategy and business plan for the unit in line with the overall priorities for Ramboll, provide leadership to employees in the unit, manage operations and implement good governance. You will be responsible for driving significant growth and major key accounts for the sector with special emphasis on our strongholds in the Nordics, UK, Americas, Germany and international projects globally. You will combine the competencies of the whole Ramboll Group across all our markets to create a holistic offering for our clients in the space of railway infrastructure. You will look to further develop services within the sector and deliver major projects around the globe in cooperation with all relevant stakeholders across business units.

You will report directly to the Managing Director of Transport and a key part of the role is to work in partnership with other senior leaders to develop cross functional cooperation, skills and culture, ensureglobal rail initiatives are implemented at a local level, and take into account the cultural differences across the business units in order to secure execution in the spirit of "One Company".

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Execute the overall Global Rail strategy and priorities for the Rail Sector
  • Prepare and execute the business plan for the Rail Sector
  • Grow the business and strengthen the Ramboll brand, mature the organisation and build new Rail competence in agreed geographies
  • Lead and build the management team including leadership selection and organisational structure of the sector
  • Develop and lead a core team of top tier senior project directors to be deployed globally
  • Represent the Rail Sector in relevant Ramboll circles
  • Develop strong relationships to selected Key Accounts with special focus on the Rail Sector
  • Win and deliver profitable Rail projects through close cooperation with Country Market Directors
  • Leverage capabilities and create additional revenue for disciplines and specialist services organised in Rail Sector
  • Build domain expertise in Rail Sector through select strategic hires and M&A cases
  • Be the undisputed domain leader of the Rail Sector area, both internally in Ramboll, and externally across clients, cooperation partners and the general public
  • Play a key part in Ramboll's 2025 ambition to be recognised as 'Top 3' globally, measured by the quality we deliver to our clients

  • A relevant master's degree, or other relevant qualification
  • Extensive experience working as a leader with a proven track record from the Rail Sector
  • Experience from complex organisations where leading by influence is a key skill

  • International and cultural awareness
  • Strong communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English
  • Significant network in the industry which has been built up and nurtured over years
