About the role:

As the Communications Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing the internal and external communications strategy for Alcoa's Norway operations. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and implement plans to support positive relations between Alcoa and its stakeholders, both externally and internally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Media Relations: Manage interactions with the media, prepare and distribute press announcements, and respond to media inquiries in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Internal Communications: Develop internal communication materials, such as newsletters, to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Crisis Communications: Assist in planning and executing crisis communication strategies.
  • Communications Planning: Assess the effectiveness of internal and external communications, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies accordingly.
  • Philanthropic Efforts: Direct and leverage the location's philanthropic initiatives, including Alcoa Foundation grants.
  • Community Involvement: Support community events and activities, such as volunteer programs and promotional events, recommending appropriate levels of participation and managing involvement.
  • Content Creation: Create content for both internal and external platforms, including social media and the employee communications platform.
  • Brand Awareness: Develop local and regional media plans to enhance brand equity and raise awareness of Alcoa's priorities.
  • Annual Reporting: Lead the development of the annual Alcoa Norway report.
  • Industry Collaboration: Support work with industry and business associations to support Alcoa's interests.
  • Social Performance: As needed, support social performance activities, including but not limited to engagement with community stakeholders.

Desired qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in communication position, public relations or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, business, public policy, communication, or other relevant studies; a Master's degree is an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities (Norwegian and English).
  • Experience with creative and strategic communication to drive engagement internally & externally
  • Proven experience in media relations and content creation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Experience in crisis communication is a plus.
  • Regular travel within Norway is expected; certain activities may be outside of normal business hours.
  • Preferred work location is Oslo.
