Oslo, Oslo County, Norway GE Vernova Full time

Job Description Summary

GE Vernova's Power Transmission Service business is responsible for after-sales support of our installed base of power transmission equipment, from erection and commissioning, through spare parts, maintenance and repair, to major overhaul and extension projects.

We are now looking for an experienced customer-facing Sales & Tendering Engineer to join our team and take responsibility for identifying, developing, costing, and securing new projects. Typical customers include Distribution and Transmission Network Operators, and both Renewable and Conventional Power Generation Companies.

Experience in the power transmission industry (High Voltage, Transformers, Breakers, Switchgear, transmission lines) in an after-sales environment is required.

Passionate about technology, a drive, and a proven track record of establishing customer relationships and trust are paramount.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Working in partnership with Key Account Managers, establishing relationships at all levels within key customers, identifying stakeholders and decision-makers.
  2. Engage with subject matter experts and key internal stakeholders (Project Management, Field Service, H&S, Quality, etc.) to develop the proposal.
  3. Prepare technical tender offers aligned with scope of work and according to internal business processes, e.g., identify correct breaker configuration to enable correct parts offering.
  4. Ensure prices are established based on target-winning price, with a view on market conditions (competition, customer budget).
  5. Analyze contract agreements and identify deviations from standard GE terms.
  6. Lead the deal approval process and ensure compliance with GE contracting guidelines.
  7. Understand the customer approval process and key decision-makers. Depending on deal size, lead or assist with customer negotiations to close the deal.
  8. Update the Service team on progress, input into workload management and scheduling.
  9. Ensure the CRM system is utilized and updated in a timely manner.
  10. Utilize Lean methodologies to improve the proposal process.
  11. Most decisions fall within a defined framework, but within those guidelines, the successful candidate will have a degree of autonomy in the final deal.

Required Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or a more practical approach to the position, e.g., Field Service Engineering background.
  2. Experience in the power transmission industry (High Voltage, Transformers, Breakers, Switchgear, transmission lines) in an after-sales environment.
  3. An understanding of the Norwegian and Nordic electricity network and customers, and experience in sales and tendering.
  4. A working knowledge of typical Norwegian and Nordic forms of contracts would be an advantage.

Desired Characteristics

The role will involve occasional travel within the Nordic countries and overseas, and we are therefore looking for an individual who is able to work unsupervised and to manage and prioritize their own workload.

Involved at an early stage in project development, an ability to logically and systematically analyze problems, develop options, and to understand and discuss GE's proposed solutions.

Often working to tight deadlines, the successful candidate will be able to engage with and influence diverse stakeholders across the business to ensure their customer's timescales are met.

Grid Power Transmission, Norway is a small and very engaged team. Our Customers are excited by the potential of our technology and we are dedicated to supporting our existing relationships.
