PhD Research Fellow in RNA Targeting with Small Molecules

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD Research Fellow to join our team at the University of Bergen, Norway. The successful candidate will be part of a doctoral training network focusing on targeting RNA with small molecules in the context of antimicrobial drug discovery.

The PhD Research Fellow will work under the supervision of experienced researchers and will have the opportunity to develop their skills in molecular biology, structural biology, biophysics, computational chemistry, synthetic and medicinal chemistry, and microbiology.

The project involves the discovery and characterization of RNA ligands and the translation of these discoveries into innovations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge interdisciplinary skills and to contribute to the development of new small molecule RNA ligands for selected targets.

The PhD Research Fellow will be based at the University of Bergen and will have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers from other institutions within the doctoral training network.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, structural biology, biophysics, computational chemistry, synthetic and medicinal chemistry, and microbiology. They will also have excellent communication and teamwork skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research in the field of RNA targeting with small molecules
  • Develop and implement new methods for the discovery and characterization of RNA ligands
  • Collaborate with researchers from other institutions within the doctoral training network
  • Present research findings at international conferences and publish in top-tier journals
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in molecular biology, structural biology, biophysics, computational chemistry, synthetic and medicinal chemistry, and microbiology
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong background in molecular biology, structural biology, biophysics, computational chemistry, synthetic and medicinal chemistry, and microbiology
