PhD Research Fellow in Geodynamics and Surface Processes

The University of Bergen is seeking a highly motivated PhD Research Fellow to join our team in the Department of Earth Science. The successful candidate will be part of a research project focused on the 3D evolution of foreland fold-and-thrust belts, with a specific emphasis on the southern Andes.
Research Objectives- To quantify and model the 3D evolution of the southern Andes foreland fold and-thrust belt.
- To investigate the links between deposition, salt/shale tectonics, and climate, including orography.
- To develop a 3D structural and stratigraphic framework for selected cross sections along the Andean foreland.
- A master's degree or equivalent education in Tectonics/Geodynamics/Geophysics.
- Background and research interest in quantitative earth science.
- Training in numerical model use and development or quantitative approach to geological data handling.
- Documented basic programming skills in Python, Matlab, or another programming language.
- Experience with geodynamic modeling, landscape evolution modeling, and/or tectonics of orogens is an advantage.
- A 3-year PhD research fellowship with the possibility of a 4th year.
- A salary as PhD research fellow (code 1017) in the state salary scale.
- Enrolment in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
