About the Role

The Global Data Protection Officer (GDPO) is a critical position at DNV, responsible for ensuring the organization's compliance with data protection regulations and best practices. As a key member of the IT Security Management team, you will play a vital role in shaping DNV's data privacy and compliance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise senior management on personal data protection obligations and collaborate with Group Compliance to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate the team of Data Protection Managers, Regional Data Protection Representatives, and other local Data Protection Officers to ensure effective data protection practices across the organization.
  • Provide consultation on new processes, systems, and tools for handling personal data, ensuring they meet data protection standards.
  • Serve as the primary contact point for handling personal data breaches, individual data subjects, and data protection authorities.
  • Develop and implement employee awareness and training initiatives related to data protection, ensuring a culture of data protection within the organization.
  • Provide advice and suggested methodologies for carrying out risk evaluations and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA), ensuring the organization's data protection practices are robust and effective.
  • Report to the personal data protection advisory board, consisting of senior management, and provide bi-annual reports to the Group CEO on data protection status and achievements.
Requirements
  • University degree in technological sciences or a related field.
  • Good understanding of DNV's key business processes and operations.
  • Experience with risk management and information security, with a focus on data protection.
  • Authority and independence to address privacy issues, including breaches.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft's product portfolio and ability to leverage it for data protection purposes.
  • Established DNV contact network with effective engagement skills for both senior management and IT professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in both English and Norwegian.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and adaptable mindset.
