Join Our Research Team

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team at the University of Oslo's Institute of Clinical Medicine. This position is part of an ERC Consolidator Grant project, 'FatVersusBile', which focuses on understanding how the gut influences liver health in humans and mice.

The successful candidate will work with Prof. Johannes Hov's research group, which has established a strong clinical and translational microbiome research environment. The group has access to various tools, including metagenomics, mouse models, and a germ-free animal facility.

As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will design, plan, and execute original in vitro and in vivo experiments to define the microbial contribution to chronic inflammatory and steatotic hepatobiliary diseases. You will also work closely with the research team to develop new leads using in vivo and in vitro experiments, as well as validation in human materials.

About the Project

'FatVersusBile' aims to understand how the gut drives liver health and how these mechanisms can be manipulated. The project has three subprojects, each focusing on different aspects of gut-liver interactions. The successful candidate will contribute to one or more of these subprojects.

The research group values collaboration, innovation, and independent thinking. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will have the opportunity to develop your own research track and collaborate with other researchers within the group.

Your Role
  • Design and execute original in vitro and in vivo experiments to investigate gut-liver interactions.
  • Contribute to the development of new leads using in vivo and in vitro experiments, as well as validation in human materials.
  • Collaborate with other researchers within the group to advance the project's goals.
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant field (microbiology, immunology, etc.).
  • Experience with animal experiments and laboratory techniques.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
