About the Role

The Product Developer plays a pivotal role in the Product & ESG department, ensuring the highest level of quality and structured execution of all products under their responsibility. This includes developing outstanding products and tech packs while collaborating with suppliers to meet ambitious quality requirements, design intent, cost targets, and sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of products from design handover to pre-production approval, meeting time, cost, and quality expectations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Homerun B.V. and finished good suppliers, facilitating clear and timely communication.
  • Achieve commercial viability of designs and meet profitability targets through collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Ensure timely deliveries during sampling by monitoring suppliers.
  • Validate samples against quality standards in close collaboration with suppliers.
  • Pursue optimal construction and technical solutions for use, durability, and aesthetics.
  • Create packaging instructions in collaboration with the Design team.
  • When necessary, adjust patterns or create mock-ups in-house to verify technical feasibility or improve construction.
Work Tasks

This role involves:

  • Maintaining complete technical specifications for product development in our PLM system.
  • Developing Bills of Materials (BOM), updating color matrices, and technical specifications according to product timelines.
  • Addressing construction, manufacturing, sustainability, and cost constraints as needed.
  • Reviewing and commenting on development samples and presenting change requests during weekly product evaluation sessions, supported by Designers.
  • Coordinating sample production planning with manufacturers, setting priorities, and considering timelines.
  • Analyzing Cost Breakdown Sheets to ensure price targets are achievable while protecting margin, design intent, and feature set.
  • Supporting the Chief Product Officer (CPO) with insights and comparison before and during factory negotiations.
  • Developing Quality Assurance documentation specific to every product entering production, serving as guidance for inline and final inspections, in addition to our Quality Standard and construction guidelines.
  • Owning and evolving our Product Quality Standard, including creating a Standard Technical Solutions Library, in collaboration with the Product team.
  • Addressing non-compliance identified in production or in the market.
  • Collaborating closely within the Product & ESG team – being fully supportive and transparent on all relevant tasks.
  • Executing and leading projects within seasonal and long-term timelines, being a key player in creating those timelines and deadlines.
  • Monitoring developments within and outside our industry regarding technology, materials, constructions, and collaborating with strategic suppliers to ensure best-in-class products.

To succeed in this position, you will possess:

  • 3-5 years of relevant education.
  • At least 5 years of experience in product development in the outdoor or fashion industry.
  • Tech-savviness with a good understanding of documentation systems such as:
    • PLM systems, Centric Software is a plus.
    • Adobe Illustrator or similar tools.
    • 3D CAD systems.
    • Fluency in written and spoken English.
