Key Responsibilities- Cost Management System Implementation: Implement and maintain a consistent approach to project cost control, budget tracking, forecasting, cashflow, and performance analysis.
- Project Cost and Progress Reporting: Manage the project cost and progress reporting process to provide consistent, accurate, and timely reporting to the project management team, including identification of any required actions to maintain approved baseline targets.
- Cost Function Ownership: Own, oversee, and participate in key cost functions, including:
- Work Breakdown Structure Application: Apply the project Work Breakdown Structure to ensure all systems, processes, and reporting reflect the standard approach on the projects.
- Contract and Procurement Support: Support the contracting and procurement team with project contracts, purchase orders, project payment certificates review, setup in PIMS and SAP systems.
- Invoice Review and Accruals: Review and verify invoices, establish accruals with supporting documentation before the end of the month, and allocate expenses to cost centers and WBS.
- Cost to Complete Forecasting: Forecast cost to complete and highlight areas of risk to mitigate cost overruns against the baseline plan and budget.
- Monthly Reporting and Variance Analysis: Provide monthly reporting and variance analysis.
- Project Change Management: Ensure the project change management process (PCN) is utilized diligently on projects.
- Capital Planning Support: Support the quarterly capital planning process.
- Performance Measurement: Progress and performance measurement by applying earned value management (EVM) tools and techniques to interpret data and provide timely insight and recommendations on project performance.
- Contractor Progress Payment Claims: Evaluate Contractor's progress payment claims and reconcile with budgets and Contracts.
- Cost Management System Audit: Monitor and audit the cost management system and SAP to ensure accuracy between the two systems and escalate to management of any significant variances.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Establish positive working relationships with all parties involved and uphold company values.
- Project Control Experience: At least 5 years of project control experience, cost control, economics, or business management, preferably including international elements or interfaces.
- Cost Component Reporting: Experience working on the reporting of cost components of small to mid-scale capital projects.
- Project Control Principles: Good understanding of project control principles, processes, and techniques.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills, ability to interface with project stakeholders.
- Software Proficiency: Experience and proficiency with Omega PIMS cost system, PowerBI, SAP, and Visma, and proficient computer skills with advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Office package abilities.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering and commerce/finance, or equivalent by experience.
- Project Management Certification: Project management or an internationally accredited project controls certification.
