Researcher in High Voltage Technology and Cable Degradation

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified PhD candidate to join our research team at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The successful candidate will be part of a project focused on developing advanced aging models and reliability assessment methods for extruded High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cables used in offshore power systems.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct independent scientific research on the aging mechanisms of polymeric HVDC insulation under DC stresses.
- Investigate the impact of humidity on the aging of polymeric HVDC insulation.
- Develop and validate physics-based aging models for extruded HVDC cables.
- Collaborate with the research group and industry partners to ensure the practical relevance and applicability of the research results.
- Disseminate scientific findings through journal publications and international conferences.
- Master's degree in Electric Power Engineering or a related field.
- Strong academic background with a minimum average grade of B or better.
- Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
- Experience with numerical simulations, programming, and experimental techniques is an advantage.
- Work experience in high voltage insulation technique and degradation/aging of polymeric insulation materials.
- Experience with numerical simulations and programming languages such as Python and MatLab.
- Inquisitive and self-motivated with a strong ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Structured and solution-oriented approach to research.
