Trading & Originationis Statkraft’s central commercial unit for proprietary trading of standard and origination of non-standard energy related products and assumes the role of a market integrator for third party carbon & renewable certificates as well as renewable energy; working with both compliance and voluntary end users.
Job Description
As part of the Trading and Origination team, the Environmental Products Markets Analyst will strengthen our analytical and data science capabilities, with an emphasis on certificate inventory optimization, fundamental modelling, pricing, and market strategy. Our ideal candidate will be well organized, self-starting, goal oriented and be able to proactively create solutions to drive operational efficiency. She/he brings significant energy and thrives in an atmosphere that rewards completing transactions from start to finish.
Responsibilities :
Responsible for the management and optimization of the US Environmental Products certificate/credit inventory, which includes:Creation of tools, systems, and processes for REC and Carbon deliveriesREC and Carbon Registry managementWork with Settlements and Risk teams to create, maintain, and improve proprietary portfolio management programs and tools.Create transparent reporting for outstanding/upcoming positions and near term (1yr out) deliveries. Responsible for ownership, creation, analysis, and dissemination of various US Environmental market models, which includes the:Design, build, and maintenance of financial, trading, and supply/demand modelsRegular updates to core market modelsRelationships with third-party market analystsFundamental and market analysis to provide insights on a range of topics, e.g. view formation, long-term deal pricing, optimal hedging strategies, long-term calibration of curves and modelsProvide data-driven decision support and deliver insights to senior portfolio managers and management Support company-wide data management, Excel tools and Python libraries Support Quant and Structuring team with model development, inputs, calibration, and deployment Support transactions from deal closing through settlement, Support the larger team with development, refinement, and occasional execution of various trading strategies Support the Portfolio Management team with trading and execution, initially as a backup; including use and proficiency of all internal and external (e.g. exchange) relevant trading systems.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of power system economics and fundamental models is a must Understanding of, or previous exposure to, renewable energy is preferred Experience trading commodities among a US client-base Experience analyzing complex transactions Understanding of common commercial terms for short and long-term transactions 1+ years of experience analyzing, executing transactions for any commodity market with US client-base Data science ability in Python Pragmatic thinking and a commercial mindset Minimum of college degree Strong experience in presenting (internal or external) Exceptional communicator, skilled at internal & external stakeholder management Intellectually curious High level of personal integrity
