MPOWIR Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention is seeking a highly skilled Researcher to join our team in the field of marine earth system modelling. As a Researcher, you will be responsible for upgrading and maintaining the ocean modules of the Norwegian Earth system model NorESM, supporting the effective operation and use of the infrastructure, and providing modelling support in the education of students.
Key Responsibilities- Upgrade and maintain the ocean modules (ocean biogeochemistry, ocean physics) of the Norwegian Earth system model NorESM
- Support the effective operation and use of the infrastructure
- Provide modelling support in the education of students
- Contribute to community runs with NorESM
- Evaluate earth system model results and implement respective software packages
- Publish results in the peer-reviewed literature
- PhD in oceanography, meteorology, physics, mathematics, Earth sciences, or a related field
- Experience in numerical modelling within the Earth system
- Excellent programming and visualisation skills
- Knowledge of oceanography (biogeochemistry, physics)
- Ability to work independently and in a structured manner
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to attract external research funding (desirable)
- Experience with high performance computing and mass data storage (desirable)
