Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Oslo or Bergen, Norway. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our suppliers meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supplier Qualification: Evaluate suppliers, issue and review qualification assessment forms, perform onsite visits and audits, and recommend the appropriate qualification level.
  • Supply Base Management: Ensure the supply base is and remains fully qualified and compliant through regular monitoring.
  • Supplier Audit: Plan and conduct remote and/or onsite supplier audits, including reporting and findings management, and verify effective closure of audit findings by the supplier.
  • Supplier Nonconformances: Coordinate, monitor, and report high-impact supplier nonconformances and drive resolution that contains the problem, identifies the root cause, and ensures that appropriate supplier process controls are implemented to prevent recurrence.
  • Supplier Development: Develop and support suppliers to achieve conformance with Hitachi Energy requirements and continual improvement in quality, e.g., reduction of variation; sustainability, service/delivery performance.
  • Parts Qualification: Lead and execute material/parts qualifications following Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for HUB led category parts/components/materials.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and consolidate the supplier delivery and quality performance KPIs.
  • Process Improvement: Ensure the appropriate utilization of the SBM tools within the BU/HUB organizations and the local units.
  • Expertise: Assignments require a thorough understanding of standard engineering concepts/principles, and in-depth knowledge of quality assurance programs & procedures.
  • Communication: This role requires the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal groups (this may be necessary to negotiate changes and influence decisions).

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline.
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience working in supplier quality.
  • Skills: Recent professional experience focusing on supplier development is a plus. Experience working with Process Improvement and/or Continuous Improvement practices (e.g., Kaizen, DMAIC, RCA). Green Belt Certification is a plus. Experienced in managing 8D Methodologies. Well-developed auditing skills and experience. Lead Auditor certification is a plus.
  • Travel: Expected 25% minimum travelling required.
