Job Description

As Manager-Health, Safety and Security, the following tasks would be a part of your job profile:

  • Develop project HSS documentation, e.g., HSS plan and program, emergency response plan, traffic management plan, security plan, and operational control procedures.
  • Evaluate and coordinate HSS plans and programs proposed by contractors working at the sites and monitor their performance to assure compliance.
  • Ensure that all HSS activities at the project level are carried out in accordance with the applicable HSS regulations and Statkraft Health Safety and Security Standards.
  • Develop and perform project safety training programs and promote a strong safety-behavioral culture within the organization and towards suppliers and contractors, leading by example.
  • Ability to work independently and capable of forming strong working relationships and partnerships with site leadership teams.
  • Advise the concerned departments in planning and organizing measures necessary for the effective control of personal injuries.
  • Check and evaluate the effectiveness of the action taken or proposed to be taken to prevent personal injuries.
  • Climb wind towers and access wind turbines to perform health and safety tasks.
  • Support and cooperate with the technical quality team in inspection and follow-up of HSS in the wind turbine delivery.
  • Carry out daily site safety inspections/visits in order to observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices and procedures followed by employees and to render advice on measures to be adopted for removing the unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers.
  • Promote all employees to report unsafe acts, conditions, and near misses and put in an effort with the concerned department to correct the same on time.
  • Promote all employees to report positive behavior.
  • Organize, in association with the concerned department, campaigns, competitions, contests, and other activities that will develop and maintain the interest of the workers in establishing and maintaining safe conditions of work and procedure.
  • Facilitate screening of workmen and conduct HSS induction and job-specific training (lifesaving rules, working at height, hazards identification and risk assessment, electrical safety, LOTO, driving safety, lifting operations, PTW, etc.) for new entrants and visitors to become familiar with the company's HSS policy and system.
  • Ensure adequate PPE and safety equipment, as required, are available on site and are being used properly. Carry out the inspection of PPE and safety equipment at suitable intervals and keep a record of the same.
  • Ensure the availability of method statements, SOPs, risk assessments, and JSAs for all critical work activities. Participate with the site team in preparing the same.
  • Participate in Risk Assessment workshops to identify the Hazard risks & control measures for the defined activities.
  • Organize emergency response trainings and emergency mock drills to ensure prompt action in case of emergency.
  • Take actions to enhance the culture of reporting near misses, unsafe acts and conditions, positive behavior, dangerous occurrences, and occupational diseases.
  • Communicate HSE incidents and corrective actions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Investigate accidents/incidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, and occupational diseases to determine root causes and corrective and preventive measures, ensure their implementation in a timely manner to avoid similar incidents in the future, and keep a record of the same.
  • Prepare lesson learned & communicate amongst the team.
  • Conduct worksite HSS walks/inspections with contractor representatives and direct appropriate corrective actions. Keep track of the compliance status of all corrective actions.
  • Ensure safety compliance with information, signs, posters, barriers, and other material to warn of potential and actual safety hazards to prevent any incident or accident.
  • Prepare a weekly or monthly HSS statistics report and keep all stakeholders updated on the HSS status of the project.

Qualifications

About you:

We look for experienced personnel with the essential skills that include:

  • BE. / B. Tech/ Diploma in Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical + Full-time Advance diploma in Industrial Safety from a reputed institute preferably from RLI/CLI. NEBOSH will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of HSS experience, out of these 10 years in the field of construction of transmission lines & wind farms.
  • Have valid GWO-certified training for working at height, manual handling, fire awareness, and first aid.
  • Awareness about ISO 45001:2018 Requirements.
  • Good level of oral and written English.
  • Physically & medically fit to perform the required role.
