Working in Trading & Origination

As Head of Power Marketing, you will be responsible for developing Statkraft into a leading market integrator in the PJM market, matching the needs of generators to electricity buyers. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships within the mid-market and downstream customer segments. You will work closely with the PPA Origination and Portfolio Management teams to implement and help shape business strategies. You will be a key contributor to the pricing and hedging of all deals within the team.

Job Description

  • Build out and take ownership of Statkraft's power marketing business
  • Identify, analyze, negotiate, and execute complex structured energy transactions in PJM with a focus on selling into the mid-market and downstream customer segment (e.g. Load Serving Entities, Municipal Energy Agencies, Energy Cooperatives, etc.)
  • Contribute to deal pricing and deal hedging, in coordination with other colleagues in the Origination and Portfolio Management teams
  • Maintain constant interaction with internal teams: credit, operations, and trading as necessary to advance target transactions
  • Build and maintain key relationships with various mid-market and downstream customers (end-users)
  • In collaboration with Portfolio Management and Operations Teams, take care of day-to-day administrative issues related to the contracted portfolio
  • Create systems, processes, and tools to help business scale

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience originating/marketing power within PJM
  • Well-connected with various power market players (industrials, utilities, funds, banks, trading houses, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of all US power markets, with emphasis on Eastern Interconnect and PJM
  • Experience and familiarity with standard and non-standard power contract terms as well as master trade agreements, such as ISDA and EEI
  • Strong commercial mindset and high level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Combination of entrepreneurial spirit, quantitative analysis, attention to detail, and communication skills to drive growth and revenue
