Research Opportunities

This PhD position offers a chance to explore the molecular basis of life-history variation in Atlantic salmon, with implications for both basic and applied science. You will work on designing experiments to study reproductive traits and identifying potential target genes for precision breeding.

About the Supervisor

Your supervisor will guide you through the research process, providing expertise and support as needed. As a researcher in the field of functional and evolutionary genomics, they have extensive experience in molecular genetics and bioinformatics.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in a relevant field of study, such as molecular biology or genetics.
  • Grade average of B or better, demonstrating academic excellence.
  • Proficiency in English, as you will be working with international collaborators.
  • Preferred skills include experience in molecular genetics wet-lab work, programming skills in R, and familiarity with bioinformatics.
  • Advantageous: Prior experience in functional genomics, particularly in studying reproductive traits.
