The Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager Revenue to join our finance team in Madrid, London, or Oslo. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in establishing robust order-to-cash processes, managing revenue accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with international accounting standards (IFRS). This position requires a strong leader with excellent coordination skills and a proactive mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Revenue Recognition and Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition in accordance with IFRS standards. Analyze customer contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition treatment and provide variance analysis on revenue and deferred revenue accounts.
  • Accounts Receivable: Generate and send invoices to customers in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring consistency with customer contracts and pricing agreements. Proactively manage collection of overdue payments, develop strategies for recovering outstanding debts, and communicate with customers to follow up on outstanding invoices and payment terms.
  • Audit and Compliance: Support external audits related to revenue recognition, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of information provided. Ensure compliance with group corporate governance controls and contribute to the continuous improvement of revenue recognition processes and policies.
  • Process Improvement and System Implementation: Identify opportunities to improve revenue accounting processes and streamline workflows. Assist in implementing and optimizing accounting systems and tools to enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess contract terms for financial implications and ensure proper documentation and interpretation of contracts. Provide guidance to accounting team members on complex revenue transactions and accounting issues.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent qualification)
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, revenue recognition, and corporate governance controls
  • Strong knowledge of VAT and sales tax regulations
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables, v-lookups, and data analysis
  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and develop team members
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

What We Offer

Our finance team is looking for a Senior Accounting Manager Revenue with a strong background in accounting, revenue and billing qualifications, and a solid foundation in order-to-cash processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and reviewing the revenue accounting cycle, including revenue recognition, book-keeping, financial reporting, and compliance. The successful candidate must be able to ensure that revenue transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS) and company policies.

Salary Estimate: Based on industry standards and location, the estimated salary for this position is €80,000 - €110,000 per year, depending on experience.
