The Global Business Development and Solutions Manager plays a pivotal role in driving business growth and success at Emerson. This key position is responsible for developing, supporting, and implementing business development initiatives and solutions strategies to achieve or exceed bookings targets globally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing industry growth plans to achieve budgets and goals, ensuring coordination with local sales organizations and regional sales initiatives;
  • Assisting in the analysis of business trends, such as bookings, market participation, run rates, and quote conversion rates, and proposing corrective strategies where applicable;
  • Understanding customer and market dynamics and requirements, analyzing oil and gas industry needs and trends, identifying application opportunities, and relevant solutions;
  • Observing competitive activities, providing competitor information to management for strategic planning;
  • Providing input to Marketing, Engineering, and Sales regarding customer needs for New Product Development, Service, or Training offerings;
  • Improving sales effectiveness in the industry through sharing knowledge and success stories, developing effective sales tools, and enhancing communications across project and account teams;
  • Maintaining overviews of industry target clusters and mining data to define growth opportunities;

Field Sales Support Activities and Project Pursuits

  • Participating actively in project pursuits from pre-conceptual through bidding and execution phases;
  • Preparing and delivering system functional design specifications to customers and engineering contractors;
  • Presenting customer benefits and differentiation messages of products and solutions to customers at all levels in assigned industries;
  • Supporting account leaders to grow the corrosion business, including developing end-user preferences and technology acceptance, and collaborating with worldwide internal teams, end-user customer teams, engineering contractors, and third-party technology providers for identified applications;

Specialist Support and Consultative Selling

  • Providing industry and application expertise to the sales channel and customers;
  • Delivering product and application training to customers (internal and external) as required;
  • Assessing customer requirements and problems and suggesting appropriate solutions;
  • Working with the Project Management Office to ensure consistent project execution.

This role requires a strong business driver and marketplace focus, with the ability to prioritize actions and make significant progress in a calm and composed manner. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to shaping and influencing customer expectations, facilitating open dialogue with a wide variety of contributors and customers.

Requirements

  • Technical bachelor's degree required and at least 7 years of work experience in Sales, Service, or Marketing from chemical, renewable, or oil and gas industries;
  • Understanding of Digital Transformation strategies and work practices, including underlying technology enablers like Wireless, Cybersecurity, Industrial Integration, and protocols and historians;
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization with strong influencing skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Proficient English language skills, verbal, reading, and writing;
  • Extensive experience in project pursuit processes from a sales and technical perspective;

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or equivalent experience in engineering.
