About the Role
HBO Nordic AB is seeking a highly skilled Director of Content Acquisition to join our European Programming and Acquisitions team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the acquisition of content for our streaming service Max in Europe, with a focus on the Nordics.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquire content, both current and library (PayTV and SVOD), for Max in Europe, with a focus on the Nordics.
- Identify opportunities for acquisition and evaluate content propositions.
- Negotiate content deals for scripted series and movies, with a special focus on local content.
- Prepare and distribute internal documentation, including proposals, deal memos, and contracts.
- Monitor market trends, competitors, and international content rights markets.
- Attend markets and industry events.
- Support the budget and forecast process for Nordic programming.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in rights acquisition within the Nordic media/broadcast/TV industry.
- Strong relationships with rights owners, particularly in the Nordic region.
- Good understanding of the Nordic rights markets, broadcasters, competitors, and media industry.
- Sensitivity to market trends and an analytical mindset.
- Proven track record of negotiating content acquisition deals.
- Experience in setting up, drafting, and understanding contracts.
- Detail-oriented with a strategic overview.
- High level of written and spoken English, plus one or more of the Nordic languages.
- Team player with a collaborative approach and alignment with HBO Nordic AB's values.
